Throughout the history of games, there are quite a few racers that have really caught on. An example of this is Ridge Racer 3ds, a very profitable franchise from years past. The arcade style racer is from an era that has come and gone, but there are still a large amount of people who’re still into this style of racing. Not everyone wants to play a hyper-realistic racing game such as Gran Turismo or Forza, instead choosing for this style, as it offers a pick up and play style that’s not really seen these days anymore. Fortunately enough, the forthcoming Ridge Racer on the 3DS will really bring about that old-school gaming feel, something we could certainly use a bit more of on current and next generation systems.

Everyone knows that playing video games is much more fun when you are able to play with your friends. Because of that, you will find the 3DS local play a blast. This will give you the chance to play against at least 4 other players as you engage in some very competitive racing. You will be able to select and register a Mii tag, or you can even upload your own picture in order for people to know who they are playing against. This is nice because you will be able to see who you are playing against as well. The fun will never end.

Familiar Territory

What we really like about this game is that it doesn’t seem to be doing anything too different than some of what the other games have already done. For some people, this may come as a bummer, as there isn’t too much new ground that they’ve covered here. Of course, this means that those that have fallen in love with the series will feel right at home here. But, the 3DS offers quite a bit of capability, making the look and feel of the game something that only rivals the Street Fighter game for the system.

Ridge Racer Nintendo 3ds Gameplay Trailer

When you’re driving, the distance is convincing, making the driver actually feel as if they’re a substantial distance away from the finish line, as depth in a racing game is extraordinarily important. But it’s their use of colors and effects that make this game. It’s vibrant to say the least, and the effects that are developed within the game make the player feel as if they’re actually flying through the streets on any given location.

All in all, Ridge Racer 3dfor the 3DS is something that will keep those who are familiar with the series quite happy, even though it may not break any new ground. But, considering that it’s one of the only true racing launch titles for the Nintendo 3DS, it’s more than enough to keep you satisfied.
